White Cane Awareness Day in Burlington!

White Cane Awareness Day Celebration Burlington!

The Vermont Division for the Blind & Visually Impaired invites you to celebrate the annual White Cane Safety Awareness Day on Saturday, October 14th in Burlington.

The white cane is a symbol of strength and independence for blind and visually impaired people. We will start by enjoying breakfast prepared by the youth from DBVI’s LEAP program. Participants will have the opportunity to use their white cane as they walk from the Overlook Café down church street with friends and family. Then we will walk back to the Overlook Café.

Details:

10:30am: Arrive at the Overlook Café, 108 Cherry St., Burlington, VT

10:30-11:30: Enjoy breakfast and discuss the importance of White Cane Awareness Day

11:30am-12:30pm: Experiential walk up and down Church Street.

Please RSVP by October 2 if you plan on attending breakfast. For more information and to RSVP, please contact Eliana Pansegrouw, LEAP Program Developer, at epansegrouw@resourcevt.org, or 202-604-4534.
